About the Trip
Glide along the fabled banks of the Nile and witness the legacies that have enchanted travelers for millennia. During this unique land-and-river program, you will visit ancient and modern wonders—from iconic monuments to marvels of engineering—and experience the stone temples under the broad Egyptian sky as you stand in the footsteps of the great pharaohs. Your journey begins in Cairo, where you’ll see the last remaining Wonder of the Ancient World—the Great Pyramid of Giza—and pay respect to the Sphinx. In Luxor, travel to the Valley of the Kings, the resting place for dozens of Egyptian noblemen. Sail to Edfu to see the Temple of Horus, which was completed by Cleopatra’s father, and in Aswan, sail along the most beautiful part of the Nile on a felucca ride. Tour the incredible King Tut exhibit at the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities in Cairo and see some historic houses of worship including the Mosque of Muhammed Ali and the Ben Ezra Synagogue. In seaside Alexandria, explore the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa and the finely curated Alexandria Library. Your adventure will end back in Cairo, where you will visit the largest and most historic bazaar of the Middle East, the Khan el Khalili.
