In her lecture, “The Less Visible Pandemic,” MaryBeth Musumeci ‘96 will examine how the COVID-19 pandemic has revealed the “less visible pandemic” of health care disparities and has created pressing needs, such as for better mental health, affordable adequate shelter, food, living wages and creation of a new chronically disabled population with ‘long COVID” care. She will examine how the pandemic has disproportionately affected members of racial and ethnic minority groups, seniors and discuss where do we go from here to address barriers to facilitate access to disrupted preventive health care services. In addition, she will address how to meet newly-arisen needs and those that have been intensified during the stress and impact of the global pandemic.

The annual Zagoren Lecture features an alumna and honors former AADC Executive Director, the late Adelaide Marcus Zagoren ’40. This free lecture is open to alumnae, the Rutgers community and the public. Event is hosted via Zoom.
