Advancing Agriculture in Africa and New Jersey: Global Reach and State Engagement
The Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics at Rutgers’ School of Environmental and Biological Sciences is well-positioned to propose policy solutions to myriad societal problems brought on by the pandemic. In this webinar, professors Edmund M. Tavernier, Ramu Govindasamy, and Robin G. Brumfield will examine the global reach and state engagement of agricultural research.
The panelists will cover the following topics:
- Professor Tavernier will provide an overview of the agricultural sector in New Jersey and examine disparities in income support during the pandemic and trade disputes initiated by the Trump Administration.
- Professor Govindasamy will show how increased yields and good management techniques in the value chain production of African indigenous vegetables are essential to addressing food and income insecurity among undernourished inhabitants of sub-Saharan Africa.
- Professor Brumfield will examine how New Jersey farmers coped with the pandemic.
