Feed a Family Virtual 5K & Wellness Walk

Share This:

This June, join the Department of Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS) as we work to build healthy, active communities with our first annual Feed A Family 5K and Wellness Walk. Your registration will support FCHS and Rutgers Against Hunger (RAH) programming.

It’s easy. Register now or throughout the month of June. We’ll give you a tally at race end, so you can report your success.

Our event has 2 options:

5K Fundraiser: Register for our race. Run/walk it in one day, or count your miles over several days during the month of June until you reach 3.1 miles to complete a 5K. All participants receive a race t-shirt.

1-Mile Wellness Walk Fundraiser: Still want to participate but for a shorter distance? Register for our walk. Walk a mile in June and support our project this way. All participants receive a race t-shirt.

Why We’re Fundraising:
Rutgers Cooperative Extension’s Department of Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS) is partnering with Rutgers Against Hunger (RAH) to raise funds that will stock local food pantries with healthy, nutritious foods and help families learn easy, tasty ways to use that food.

We will teach families with limited food budgets how to shop for and cook healthy meals through virtual nutrition/cooking lessons, using the Cooking Matters program.

Each of our lessons is taught by a team of FCHS educators with expertise in cooking and nutrition. Lessons cover meal preparation, grocery shopping, food budgeting, and nutrition.
