Marine Extension Program Seminar Series: U.S. Seafood: Good for You, Good for the Economy, Good for the Planet
The United States is a global leader in sustainable fisheries. The fishermen and farmers, who harvest seafood for a living are essential to our nation’s food supply and the economy. In fact, fisheries support more than 1.7 million jobs and $244 billion in economic activity in the United States.
During this presentation, Laura Diederick, External Affairs Lead, and Karen Greene, Fishery Management Specialist, of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries will explain what “sustainable” means, talk about Fisheries’ role in ensuring the sustainability of our seafood supply, and share resources to learn more about how to choose (and prepare!) seafood you can feel good about.
