Prof. Marinos Pourgouris started his teaching career at Rutgers, where he obtained his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature in 2005. After a 5-year service at Brown University, Marinos returned to his native Cyprus in 2010. He has authored numerous papers and articles, two books, and edited three volumes. He has lectured widely in North America, Europe and Israel and won an Essex International Visiting Fellowship. Among his non-academic activities, he had served as the Chairman of the Cyprus National Symphony Orchestra and as a member of the Cyprus National Book Awards Committee. He is currently the Chair of the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at the University of Cyprus.
