Saturday Series Science Cafe: Campus as Living Laboratory: Hands-on Learning and Land Stewardship

Share This:

Join us for the first Saturday Series Science Café! We will tour the Living Lab Gardens and discuss and perform land stewardship. Gloves, garden tools, and water will be available, but feel free to bring your own. We will meet at the NJ Institute for Food, Nutrition & Health on the Cook campus (61 Dudley Road, New Brunswick).

Dr. Christina Kaunzinger GSNB’00, assistant professor of research and faculty coordinator of the Living Lab Initiative, will lead the program. An ecologist and member of the Landscape Architecture department, she pursues opportunities to enhance biodiversity and ecosystem function on campus, in public parks, and through coastal resiliency projects.

The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) Living Lab Initiative uses the campus landscape for engaged learning. Students design, install, monitor, steward, and communicate landscape solutions that address food insecurity, social isolation, waste disposal, stormwater management, soil compaction, carbon sequestration, and species conservation.
