The 2020-2021 Distinguished Professor for the Public Dissemination of Mathematics at the National Museum of Mathematics in New York, Rutgers Professor Alex Kontorovich is a tireless proponent of math fun.

In this talk, he explores the mathematics in an everyday object: mirrors.

Most of us start the day with (at least) a glance in a mirror, and many have gazed in awe at the beautiful patterns in a kaleidoscope. The mathematical theory of mirrors and reflections has a rich and deep history, which passes from the ancients to active research in the present day. Join us for this talk, and your view of your mirror will never be the same.
