Stories impact our beliefs and values, which shape our actions, and influence whether we uphold or dismantle the status quo. Stories have the power to change hearts and minds by building on human connection, spurring emotions, and inciting action. It is why stories are powerful tools for building and sustaining movements for social justice. In this lecture, Dr. Kaler-Jones will discuss the power of storytelling for social change, weave tangible examples from Black history with their relationship to navigating the present moment, and offer reflections on how we must build narrative power to dream and create a more just future. The annual Zagoren Lecture features an alumna and honors former AADC Executive Director, the late Adelaide Marcus Zagoren ’40. This free lecture is open to alumnae, the Rutgers community and the public. Event is hosted via Zoom.
