Rutgers alumni have access to a Rutgers email account, as well as an option to establish a Rutgers forwarding email account. Below are frequently asked questions and resources to help you establish and/or update your account(s).

 

I have an @alumni.rutgers.edu account that is forwarding correctly but I want to change the email account to which my forwarding address is sending mail.

No problem! Please email RUAlumni@ruf.rutgers.edu with the following information:

  • Name
  • Address
  • School/Year
  • Current @alumni.rutgers.edu address
  • Email address to which your forwarding account is currently sending mail
  • New email address to which you now want your forwarding account to send mail

The update will be made in our system and the change will take place in two business days.

I have an @alumni.rutgers.edu account that is NOT forwarding correctly.

I am a Rutgers graduate and I want an alumni email forwarding address.

Although Alumni Relations is no longer offering an email forwarding service through “alumni.rutgers.edu,” the university encourages all alumni to maintain their link to Rutgers by using their Rutgers email alias and/or ScarletMail account. You can set up forwarding for your Rutgers email alias by going to netid.rutgers.edu and selecting “Manage Email Addresses.” If you did not activate a ScarletMail account as a student you can contact the OIT Help Desk to create one. I have a ScarletMail account set up but I forget how to log in.

To log in to your ScarletMail account, visit scarletmail.rutgers.edu and click on the mail icon. If you need help with your username or password please contact the OIT Help Desk. Hours and contact information for OIT can be found at https://oit-nb.rutgers.edu/service/help-desk.

I am an RBHS student. What email do I have?

RBHS students have Rutgers Connect accounts and ScarletMail accounts but PHI/HIPAA data should not be handled on ScarletMail accounts. After graduation, RBHS alumni lose Rutgers Connect but can keep ScarletMail and should just continue to use their student ScarletMail account. OIT does a yearly audit and sends all ScarletMail alumni (RBHS and Non-RBHS) an email to determine if they still want to keep their accounts. If not, the account is deactivated.
